Longview
About This Community
Longview, a growing community of 35,000 known for its "small town" appeal, is nestled in the Mint Valley. Located along the Columbia and Cowlitz rivers between Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens, Longview was founded in the heart of the timber industry. Longview prides itself as being the first "planned" city west of the Mississippi, established in 1924, and taking its design from that of our nation's capital. The city is also the home of Lake Sacajawea, a sprawling miles-long lake in the heart of town; Lower Columbia College; and the 800-seat Columbia Theatre, an original Vaudeville movie house. In recent years the Columbia Theatre has played host to many renowned artists such as Crystal Gayle, Arlo Guthrie, Don McLean & Judy Collins; as well as many other artists, symphonies, and Broadway-themed musicals. A rapidly developing town, Longview provides a welcome feeling for everying.
