About This Community
As the birthplace of the Pacific Northwest, Vancouver enjoys a tradition rich with heritage. Named in 1792, trader/sailor Robert Gray entered the "Great River of the West," the Columbia River, naming a point of land along the shore as Vancouver in honor of his commander. Explorers Lewis and Clark camped in Vancouver toward the end of their westward journey and characterized the area as "the only desired situation for settlement west of the Rocky Mountains."

The Hudson's Bay Company set up Fort Vancouver as the center of all fur trading in the Pacific Northwest and its military barracks have housed legendary soldiers including Gen. Ulysses S. Grant and Gen. George C. Marshall still honored today. Vancouver is the oldest permanent non-native settlement in the Pacific Northwest and has become the 4th largest city in Washington State.
Riverview proudly supports the following events in the downtown area: First Friday Art Walks; Six-to-Sunset Concert Series; and the Humane Society Walk for the Animals.
The Vancouver Main office is in the historic financial/business district that has seen brisk revitalization and growth in recent years. The city and county has expanded in industry, education, culture and population. Vancouver truly has A Colorful Past - A Bright Future.
