Gifts for Kids in Care

2014 Gifts for Kids

The Employee-Owners of Riverview marked 33 years of tradition by donating nearly 400 gifts to foster children in the surrounding areas through the Bank’s “Shirley DuPaul - Gifts for Kids in Care” program. The foster children were asked to make a “wishes and dreams” list. Riverview employees then randomly draw names and personally buy gifts for their child. Sitting among the gifts, Alexis Black from Marketing helped bring order to the chaos.

Be a Santa to a Senior!

Be a Santa to a Senior

Home Instead Senior Care partners with local non-profit and community organizations to identify seniors who might not otherwise receive gifts this holiday season. The company then works with local businesses and retail stores to help facilitate the purchase and distribution of gifts by placing trees and ornaments within their various locations. Each senior's gift requests are written on a Be a Santa to a Senior tree ornament.

This year, Keynote speaker Rick Drake, Associate Director of Development & Director of Corporate Relations of the Marshall Foundation explained that the nominees of these awards share three important leadership traits with General George C. Marshall. Rick called these three characteristics, “The Three C’s…Candor, courage, and commitment.”

Riverview would like to extend congratulations to all of the nominees and special congratulation to:

Green Eggs and Ham

We were proud to sponsor the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast in 43 Vancouver Elementary Schools. This annual event honors Dr. Seuss’ birthday and his belief in just how fun reading can be. Co-sponsor, Beaches Restaurant, cooked up a hearty breakfast of green eggs and ham which was served by an army of volunteers to hundreds of first graders. Each student was given a striped hat to wear in true “Cat in the Hat” style, and a book of their choice donated by the Bank. The event was part of the Read Across America campaign and was a fun and rewarding experience for our staff and the kids.

Fill-A-Bag Food Drive Folding Party

Thanks to Bess and Bob from Gresham Ford we had over 50 people volunteer November 8 to fold bags and staple letters and envelopes for over 2 hours. Our goal is 300,000 pounds of food and if last night was any indication of the support we will have, we should be able to easily meet our goal! Riverview began it's Fill-A-Bag program in the Columbia Gorge communities and Aumsville, Oregon several years ago and Gresham, Oregon last year. Thank you to all of our community partners! Food and cash donations are being accepted at all Riverview branches through mid-January 2012!

More than 25,000 people attended Dozer Day May 22-22 this year! Riverview is a proud sponsor of this event hosted by the Nutter Foundation that raises money for local kids! Children enjoyed visiting Riverview's "Kids Dig" site where they could play in the sand and dig for buried treasure -- then deposit their "coin" into their very own Riverview savings account. Thank you also to our amazing employee volunteers for sharing their time!
